This 2017, LaTramun has consolidated in the UCI MTB Marathon Series calendar. Cyclists from all over the planet landed in Girona to live first hand one of the most renowned races of the season. The signature of this race is clear: miles and miles of singletrack. A track with 42 miles and 6.900 feet of cumulative climb of authentic and pure mountain bike. In this context, the Belgian Alice Pirard and the Catalan Francesc Guerra were totally in their element. They are now part of the history of LaTramun.
The nineteenth edition of the singletrack race started at half past eight in Hostalets d’en Bas with top riders in the start line, including a lot of the best riders in the world. Among them, the Italian Tony Longo (Wilier Force), the Belgians Sébastien Carabin (Merida Walonie) and Roel Paulissen (BH Racing) or the Polish Mariusz Michalek (JBF2). The four riders were leading the race but they were disqualified for skipping a control point: a mistake made them ride out of the signed track.
It was then the moment of Francesc Guerra. In the equator of the race, the rider from Buff Scott MTB Team left his competitors behind. It was time to put in some gap to ensure he could write his name in the record book of the race. 3 hours 41 minutes and 3 seconds for the win. Two minutes later his team mate Ismael Ventura i Jordella appeared in the Ribes del Ter Park together with the Dutch Robbert de Nijs (Beukers-Pearl Izumi Biketeam). The second and third place of the podium came down to the final sprint, in favour of the Dutch, while the Spanish National Champion, Ismael Ventura, completed the podium.
In the female category, the fight was led by the Belgian Alice Pirard (Merida Walonie) and the Polish Michalina Ziólkowska (Wolkswagen Samachody Uzytkowe). The first one managed to get an advantage of two minutes in the first miles and she made this gap determining, as she was able to defend it until her arrival in Girona. She stopped the clock at 4 hours 35 minutes and 50 seconds.
The Catalan Sandra Santanyes had a great performance and managed an admirable third position.

The big party of mountain bike welcomed around 800 riders. Aside from the main race, the organization offered a shorter option so everybody could participate in the event. Both distances were part of the Catalan Cup. Meanwhile, the younger riders were also having a great time with the several training races and activities prepared specially for them.
