La Tramun is and has always been more than a mountain bike race. For those who participate, it has become a personal challenge. Its trails, its hardness, its beauty… have made it unique.
The Tramun has grown up. The number and the level of participants have increased year after year. This is thanks to the care we have of all the organizational aspects, from the very first day, and thanks to the large group of collaborators that make it possible.
Between several Catalonian regions, La Garrotxa, La Selva and El Gironès, The Tramun has a unique and special character marked by the exceptional landscapes where the race takes place.
La Tramun is an excuse to recover hidden paths that the older shows us. We would you to participate from this big present and to share with us a very special moment.
La Tramun is not only a race, is a passion for its organizers, who have a bigger objective that promote a race. Is a love act to our lands and to people who love them, when they discover all their beauty.
For its twentieth edition, the track is renovated once again. This year the riders will go back to the climb of Xenacs, which had been a classic one in many of the previous editions. Next they will cross over to the Vall d’en Bas and then head to Coll d’Úria after getting to the top of a very hard singletrack to Coll de la Miranda.
Along the mountain range of Collsacabra up until el Far, between enchanted rocks and lush beech woods, the rider will lose the sense of time, amazed by the exceptional landscape, the beauty of the vegetation and the paths and trails.
From coll d’Úria, a broken climb followed by a rollercoaster in the unique beech forest, take the riders to La Salut. From there, they will head to the Enchanted Rocks through the Pla d’Armadans, with a descent in the dry leaves, carved on the hill, down to Coll de Condreu.
Three kilometres of rutted trails below the crag of El Far take us to the freshly opened 8 km descent with 600 m of vertical drop, with the quality signature of Fidel Freixes, passing through Sant Martí Sacalm in the county of La Selva. After, riders will climb 1.5 km to regain some altitude and then go down a twisty descent to l’Hostal del Fang, with a technically demanding bottom part. There is where the main feed zone will be awaiting, it is a bailout point and also the start of the XCC race.
From there, there is a completely renovated track up to Puig Elena, and then a rocky and technical descent through the crags of Sant Roc.
After crossing the road of Les Serres, the altimetry is not so daunting, but the final section will not give riders a break and the trails on the foothills of Sant Grau will be hard on the legs with so many kilometres on them.
THE TRAMUN – REFERENCE OF MOUNTAIN RACES IN CATALUNYA
Tramunbike is known by its paths. A lot of these paths are prepared or even re-done for this special occasion. So they’re done thinking on the biker and with the hope that he will enjoy this sport to the maximum.
Some years, after the race, we hear that the edition cannot be overcome, and that the next edition of the Tramun won’t be as good. But the technical director of the race, Fidel Freixes, surprises us again, year after year, discovering new places with new paths. This makes the Tramun a special race, since for a lot of bikers is a classical that nobody wants to miss. But to enjoy it you have to come really well-prepared and have a high physical and technical level.
This race was born in Salt, from an entity that works with youths, the TRAMUNTANA club, and the obsession of one of its founders, Josep Maria Ripoll, to unite Olot and Girona only by mountain tracks. From the very start Fidel Freixes joins, as a bike lover. He has been one of the big promoters of the mountain bike in Girona, and also in Spain. With them, a group of people who live cycling and mountain with passion. Later, they will join the BTT Fornells club, the organizer club of the race for the last 13 years, headed by Jaume Boix.
Like a well-oiled machine, all members of the organization work as a team under the expert management of Fidel Freixes, who best defines the spirit of this race. The organization counts with more than 100 collaborators, who make the TRAMUN possible by cleaning the trails, preparing the track, putting the signs up, promoting the race, attending logistics, control points, bring the food and drinks to the provisioning points, etc.
This year there had been 77 Km of track. This track was perfectly signed and will had a total of 7 provisioning points. To do that, tons of material was brought to the right place and more than 10 vehicles was needed. It was also be necessary to hire four buses and two trailers in order to bring the competitors and their bikes to the start line in Olot. Ambulances, police support, an excavator to make the kids track, tents, fences, inflatable arches, etc…
It had a meeting point, where all the information about the race was delivered, and family and friends could find out about the competitors in real time, through the social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
La tramun insists to find out new incentives for the cyclist and to make the race more attractive. So, we disposed of more than 6 pass controls; its partial results of these sections showed in the finish line on-line and in the social media. We also invigorated the finish line with the real-time follow-up of all the race.
