Top riders of the 2019 edition of LaTramun

This year the starting line will be full of world class riders, once again. So much so, that it is hard to pick a favourite one. Amongst the men, the first name to mention is, by well-earned merit, the Belgian Sebastien Carabin. Champion of LaTramun twice, and current holder of the title, will come determined to revalidate his victory in a challenge he knows very well. It won’t be easy though. For starters, because of the presence of the Russian rider Alexey Medvedev, European Champion in 2018 and bronze medal in the last bike-marathon World Championship. He will participate for the first time and this can be a handicap in a race as peculiar as LaTramun. Team Wilier will show up with a lot of their best riders. The Italian Tony Longo is their best man, but the Norwegian Ole Hem or the Italian Martino Tronconi have plenty of qualities to opt for the victory. Another man to watch closely is the Bike Marathon English Champion, Ben Thomas, who already knows the race. Julian Schelb, German Bike Marathon winner, should manage to be in the fight with the best. The Bolivian rider who lives in Catalonia, Ever Alejandro Gómez, is another contender for podium places. Looking at the national riders, Francesc Guerra should stand the best chances, and he has made it to the podium in the last editions. Ismael Ventura, 2017 Bike Marathon Spanish Champion, has also stepped several times on the podium of LaTramun and knows the track very well. Besides being in the organizing club, he is one of the riders who knows what it is to step on the podium. Iván Díaz and Josep Betalú are also great riders to take part in the race.

The ladies race will have the Slovenian Blaza Pinteric as the top candidate. She is the current leader of the world ranking. In fact, in LaTramun there will be the top 3 riders of this ranking, as the German Bettina Janas and the Swiss Esther Süss will participate too. The Bike Marathon Champion in New Zealand, Samara Sheppard, is not going to make it easy for them. One of these ladies should get the victory, if we look at their latest results, especially in the case of Pinteric, with a podium in this year’s Bike Marathon World Championship. But there are many more riders who will stand good chances. Amongst the nationals, the attention goes to Claudia Galicia, Spanish Champion of the category. Meritxell Figueras arrives to the event just after the best season of her sportive career.  Mercé Pacios is also a frequent participant of this race and has achieved good results in other international Bike Marathon races. Sandra Jordà can also finish in a great position in a technical track such as this one.

With all of them and many more, La Tramun is preparing to celebrate a new edition of its unique concept of Mountain Bike. A new opportunity to consolidate itself as ‘The Singletrack Marathon’. October 13th is the big day!
